Get More from your Batteries
Get more from your batteries
There is an easy way to get a 1-2 day increase in the life of your hearing aid batteries.
After removing the tab from the battery, let the battery sit for 3-5 minutes before putting it in your hearing aid.
Hearing aid batteries are zinc air cells. The sticker tab prevents air from entering the battery. Once the tab is removed, air can reach the materials inside the battery to activate it. If you put the battery in the hearing aid immediately after removing the tab, it puts the battery to work before it’s had a chance to activate fully, thus reducing battery life.
Therefore, whenever possible, let your hearing aid batteries sit for several minutes prior to turning on your hearing aid.
Consider trying these other strategies for extending the life of your battery:
- When you’re not wearing your hearing aid, turn it off or open the battery door to minimize battery drain
- If you won’t be using your hearing aid for an extended period of time, remove the battery entirely
- Avoid storing batteries in extreme temperatures
